The Who were a British rock band formed in the mid 1960's. Members consisted of vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. The Who released their first album in 1965. It was titled My Generation. The album was successful making it to 5th on the British charts with the single “My Generation”. The Who released their second album in 1966 titled A Quick One. The album was slightly more successful than their first making it to around fourth on the British charts. The band released their third album in 1967 titled The Who Sell Out. The album didn’t chart as high as the band’s first two albums. The Who would wait two years to release another studio album titled Tommy. The album sold better than any previous album released by The Who charting in the top 5 and selling over two million copies in the U.S alone. The album had the single “Pinball Wizard”. The Who released their fifth album in 1971 titled Who’s Next. The album sold over three million copies in the U.S and included the hits “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. Throughout the 1970’s, The Who released multiple albums which had a few hits including “Who Are You”. After the release of their album, Who Are You, in 1978 drummer Keith Moon died of a drug overdose. The Who hired another drummer named Kenney Jones. The Who played concerts throughout the 1980’s with their new drummer. They wouldn’t be as successful with Keith Moon.
