The Doors are an American rock band formed in 1965. Members include vocalist Jim Morrison, guitarist Robby Krieger, drummer John Densmore, and keyboardist Ray Manzerek. The band didn't have a bassist. The Doors released their self titled debut album in January 1967. The album has sold almost 20 million copies and contains some of the Doors most well known songs including "Light My Fire", "Break on Through", and "The End". The Doors released their second album later that year in September 1967. Strange Days eventually went platinum and included the hits "People Are Strange" and "Love Me Two Times". The album reached #3 in the charts while their debut album still remained in the top 10 almost 10 months later. The band considered it a commercial failure compared to their previous album. The Doors then released their third album in July 1968. It was the band’s only number 1 album and contained the hit “Hello, I Love You”. The Doors released their fourth album, The Soft Parade, a year later in 1969. It contained four hits which included “Touch Me”, “Runnin’ Blue”, “Wishful Sin”, and “Tell All the People”. The band released their fifth album in 1970. One hit made the top 50 which was “You Make Me Real”. The band released another album in 1971 titled L.A Women. It is considered to be one of the Doors best albums because of its return to the band’s original type of music. It had two hits which were “Riders of the Storm” and “Love Her Madly”. This would be the last album by the Doors with all its original members. Vocalist Jim Morrison died on July 3rd, 1971 of heart failure. The band continued on with the remaining three members but never topped the charts like they had before with Morrison.
