The Beatles were a British rock band formed in the early 1960's. Members were bassist Paul McCartney, guitarist George Harrison, pianist John Lennon, and drummer Ringo Starr. The Beatles have sold more albums than any other band with claimed sales of 1.6 billion. In 1963, the Beatles released their first album titled Please Please Me. The album was successful with two hits “Love Me Do” and “Please Please Me”. It was only released in the U.K. The Beatles released their second album, With the Beatles, the same year. The album was released only in the U.K originally, but was later released in Canada. The album was just as successful as their debut. In 1964, the band released their third album, A Hard Day’s Night. It was released like its predecessors only in the U.K, but was later released in the U.S. Later that year, the Beatles released their next album titled Beatles For Sale. It was released in the U.S later in 1987. In 1965, the Beatles released their fifth album, Help!. The album sold around 3 million copies and included the hits “Help!” and “Yesterday”. “Yesterday” holds the record for the most covers done by other artists. The same year the Beatles released Rubber Soul. Rubber Soul sold better than Help! selling around 6 million copies. The album reached number 1 on the charts in the U.K. It is ranked number 5 on Rolling Stones Top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
