Many of Led Zeppelin’s most well known songs come from this album including “Black Dog”, “Stairway to Heaven”, and “Rock and Roll”. Other hits were “Misty Mountain Hop”, Going to California”, “The Battle of Evermore”, and “When the Levee Breaks”. Stairway to Heaven is the most played song on rock radio stations. After the success of Led Zeppelin IV, the band released their fifth album two years later in March of 1973. Houses of the Holy was not nearly as successful as the previous album but still sold over 11 million copies and contained the hits “The Song Remains the Same”, “D’yer Mak’er”, “No Quarter”, and “Over the Hills and Far Away”. Led Zeppelin’s sixth album would be released in 1975 and was called Physical Graffiti. Physical Graffiti sold slightly less than Houses of the Holy and sold around as many as Led Zeppelin’s first album. Hits include “Trampled Under Foot”, the title track from Houses of the Holy, and “Kashmir”. Physical Graffiti was Led Zeppelin’s first double album. Led Zeppelin’s seventh album was released the next year which was called Presence. Hits from the album included “Achilles Last Stand” and “Nobody’s Fault but Mine”. It sold only around 3000000 copies.
The next album Led Zeppelin released was a live album titled The Song Remains the Same. Led Zeppelin’s 8th album would be their last studio album. In Through the Out Door was released in 1979 and included the hits “All My Love” and “Fool in the Rain”. The album sold better than its predecessor and sold around 8 million copies. In 1980 drummer John Bonham died from an alcohol related incident. Led Zeppelin disbanded after Bonham’s death but Jimmy Page released their unused studio material in 1982. The album featuring this material was titled Coda. Led Zeppelin has done very little since Coda including a few concerts and a live album.
