Led Zeppelin were a British rock band formed in the late 1960's. Members consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones, vocalist Robert Plant, and drummer John Bonham. Led Zeppelin released their first album in January of 1969. The album sold well with the hits "Dazed and Confused", "Communication Breakdown", "Good Times, Bad Times", and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". The album sold almost 8000000 copies in the U.S alone. Led Zeppelin released their second album in October of the same year. Led Zeppelin II was recorded mainly on the road during their tour for their first album. Led Zeppelin II fared better than its predecessor and sold over 12000000 copies and included some of Led Zeppelin’s best known songs like “Whole Lotta Love” and “Ramble On”. Other hits were “Moby Dick” and “Heartbreaker”. The band released their third album the next year in October called Led Zeppelin III. Led Zeppelin III didn’t sell as well as Led Zeppelin I or Led Zeppelin II, but still sold over 6000000 copies in the U.S. Hits included “Immigrant Song” and “Since I’ve Been Loving You”. Led Zeppelin would reach the peak of their popularity the following year with the release of their fourth album. Led Zeppelin’s fourth album did not have a title but is referred to as “Led Zeppelin IV”. The album has been certified 23 times platinum and is the fourth best-selling album in the U.S. The album has sold around thirty seven million copies worldwide.
