The Who were a British rock band formed in the mid 1960's. Members consisted of vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. The Who released their first album in 1965. It was titled My Generation. The album was successful making it to 5th on the British charts with the single “My Generation”. The Who released their second album in 1966 titled A Quick One. The album was slightly more successful than their first making it to around fourth on the British charts. The band released their third album in 1967 titled The Who Sell Out. The album didn’t chart as high as the band’s first two albums. The Who would wait two years to release another studio album titled Tommy. The album sold better than any previous album released by The Who charting in the top 5 and selling over two million copies in the U.S alone. The album had the single “Pinball Wizard”. The Who released their fifth album in 1971 titled Who’s Next. The album sold over three million copies in the U.S and included the hits “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. Throughout the 1970’s, The Who released multiple albums which had a few hits including “Who Are You”. After the release of their album, Who Are You, in 1978 drummer Keith Moon died of a drug overdose. The Who hired another drummer named Kenney Jones. The Who played concerts throughout the 1980’s with their new drummer. They wouldn’t be as successful with Keith Moon.
Foreigner released their sixth studio and seventh overall album in December of 1987. The album was titled Inside Information. The album only charted at 15th and sold only around 1000000 copies. The album had two hits which were “Say You Will” (which charted at number six), and “I Don’t Want to Live Without You” (which charted at number five). Before Foreigner could released their next album Lou Gramm left the band to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Johnny Edwards. Foreigner released their next album in 1991 titled Unusual Heat. The album was a commercial failure and was unpopular among fans. It only charted at 117th on the charts. Lou Gramm returned to the band in 1992 and did vocals for their next album. Foreigner’s next album was released in 1994. Mr. Moonlight was even less successful than their 1991 album with Johnny Edwards and the album only charted at 136th. Multiple hits albums were released between 1994-2009. In 2009 Foreigner released their first studio album in fifteen years. Lou Gramm had left the band earlier and this album only had one original band member which was guitarist Mick Jones. Gramm was replaced by Kelly Hansen. The album was titled Can’t Slow Down. Can’t Slow Down charted significantly higher than their previous two albums at 29th. The album included new material and remixes of their greatest hits. The album had two hits which were “When It Comes to Love” and “In Pieces”. Foreigner still has concerts but hasn’t released an album since Can’t Slow Down.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience was an American- British rock band formed in the mid 1960’s. Members included guitarist/vocalist Jimi Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding, and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The band formed in Westminster, England in 1966. The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their debut album in May of 1967. The album was titled Are You Experienced?. The album was very successful selling over 5 million copies in the U.S alone. Hits included “Purple Haze”, “Hey Joe”, and “The Winds Cried Mary”. The album is ranked fifteenth on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Four songs off the album were put on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their second album later that year in December, 1967. The album was titled Axis: Bold as Love. The album didn’t sell as well as the band’s debut album. The album was ranked eighty-second on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their third album in October of 1968. The album was titled Electric Ladyland. It included one hit which was “All Along the Watchtower”. The album sold slightly better than their previous album. The album ranked number fifty-four on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 1970, Noel Redding left the band. He was replaced by Billy Cox for a short time. In September of the same year, Jimi Hendrix died. The remaining band members left the band and no other studio albums were produced after that.
The Beatles were a British rock band formed in the early 1960's. Members were bassist Paul McCartney, guitarist George Harrison, pianist John Lennon, and drummer Ringo Starr. The Beatles have sold more albums than any other band with claimed sales of 1.6 billion. In 1963, the Beatles released their first album titled Please Please Me. The album was successful with two hits “Love Me Do” and “Please Please Me”. It was only released in the U.K. The Beatles released their second album, With the Beatles, the same year. The album was released only in the U.K originally, but was later released in Canada. The album was just as successful as their debut. In 1964, the band released their third album, A Hard Day’s Night. It was released like its predecessors only in the U.K, but was later released in the U.S. Later that year, the Beatles released their next album titled Beatles For Sale. It was released in the U.S later in 1987. In 1965, the Beatles released their fifth album, Help!. The album sold around 3 million copies and included the hits “Help!” and “Yesterday”. “Yesterday” holds the record for the most covers done by other artists. The same year the Beatles released Rubber Soul. Rubber Soul sold better than Help! selling around 6 million copies. The album reached number 1 on the charts in the U.K. It is ranked number 5 on Rolling Stones Top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Roth was later replaced by Sammy Hagar. It took almost two years for the band to release their next album, their first with Sammy Hagar. In 1986, Van Halen released their next album titled 5150. The album reached number 1 on the charts and sold around over 6 million copies in the U.S. The album’s hits included “Dreams”, “Why Can’t This Be Love”, and “Love Walks In”. Van Halen waited another two years to release their next album. In April of 1988, Van Halen released their eighth album titled OU812. The album sold slightly less than 5150 selling a little over 4 million copies. The album included the hit “When It’s Love”. Throughout the 90’s Van Halen released two more albums with Sammy Hagar. The albums only had one hit which was “Right Now”. In 1996, Van Halen released a greatest hits album. Sammy Hagar left the band short after due to dissatisfaction and the hiring of former vocalist David Lee Roth to do vocals on a few songs. Van Halen got there third vocalist, Gary Cherone, for their next album. In 1998, Van Halen released their first and only album with Cherone. The album was very unsuccessful barely selling 500000 copies and receiving little appreciation from the public. Since the 90’s, Van Halen has released one studio album with vocalist David Lee Roth, a greatest hits album, and a live album. Bassist Michael Anthony left the band shortly after the greatest hits album in 2004. He was replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang. Van Halen still plays concerts today.

The album was an immediate success selling over 10 million copies in the U.S. The album introduced Eddie Van Halen’s skill on guitar with the instrumental, “Eruption”. Other hits from the album include “You Really Got Me”, “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout’ Love”, “Runnin’ With the Devil”, and “Jamie’s Cryin”. One year later Van Halen would released their second album titled Van Halen II. The album went to number 6 on the charts and sold 5 million copies, only half of what their debut album sold. Hits include “Dance the Night Away”, and “Beautiful Girls”. In 1980, the band released their third album titled Women and Children First. The album sold slightly less than Van Halen’s second album with sales around 3 million copies and included the hit “And the Cradle Will Rock”. In 1981, Van Halen released their fourth album, Fair Warning, which sold a little less than its predecessor. The album included the hit “Unchained”. In 1982, the band released their fifth album, Diver Down. The album sold around 4 million copies. In 1984, Van Halen released their sixth album titled 1984. The album sold the most copies of any Van Halen album, and charted at number 2. The album included many hits some of which included “Jump” and “Panama”. After this album, vocalist David Lee Roth left the band after a falling out between him and guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
In 1980 with their new vocalist, AC/DC released their seventh album, Back in Black. The album was a huge success being more popular than any of their previous albums. The album included the hits “Back in Black”, “Shoot to Thrill”, and “You Shook Me All Night Long” The album sold over 22 million copies and is the sixth highest selling album of all time. After the huge success of Back in Black, AC/DC released their next album the following year. Titled For Those About to Rock We Salute You, the album didn’t sell as well as their previous album but still included the hit “For Those About to Rock”. It sold around 4000000 copies in the US. In 1983, the band released their next album titled Flick of the Switch. In 1984 the band released a small album titled 74’ Jailbreak. The band released three more albums in the 1980’s which slowly declined in popularity.
AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in the mid 1970's. The band’s original members consisted of vocalist Bon Scott, guitarist Malcolm Young, guitarist Angus Young, drummer Phil Rudd, and bassist Mark Evans (who was replaced after the band's first few albums). Malcolm and Angus Young are brothers. AC/DC released their first album in 1975 titled High Voltage. AC/DC also released a second album titled TNT the same year. Both albums were only originally released in Australia. AC/DC released the album High Voltage in 1976 worldwide containing songs from both their albums released in Australia. The album was successful in multiple countries and had the hits “It’s A Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll)” and “TNT”. In 1976 AC/DC released their second album only available in Australia. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap was released in America in 1981. The album included the hit “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and sold around 6000000 copies in the U.S and sold around 420000 copies in Australia. In 1977 the band would release their third album titled Let There Be Rock. In 1978, AC/DC released their fourth album, Powerage. They also released a live album the same year. AC/DC would make international success with their next album released in 1979. Highway to Hell was the band’s sixth album and was their most popular album up to then. Highway to Hell has one of the band's most recognized songs “Highway to Hell”. The album charted highly in the U.S and Australia and sold around 7000000 copies. After this album Bon Scott died of an alcohol overdose in 1980. He was replaced by vocalist Brian Johnson later that year.
